Each year, we choose two separate locations in the UK and aim it at anyone that is interested in seeking a career as a professional actor. To be eligible, you must be aged 18 or over and you must be a resident or live very close by to the chosen location.
In 2010 we ran workshops in Leicester and Oldham.
In 2009 we ran workshops in Swansea and Sheffield.
In 2008 we ran workshops in Plymouth & Leeds.
In 2007 we ran workshops in Tooting (South London) & Newcastle.
In 2006 we ran workshops in Nottingham & Manchester.
In 2005 we ran workshops in Birmingham & Leicester.
The Success
Since we have been running this scheme, we have enabled many people to enter Oxford as well as other accredited drama schools in the UK. People that before the workshops had perceived that drama school would never be suitable for them, many are now working regularly as professional actors.
The Future
We will be continuing to collaborate with Oxford. As part of this, we are in communication with the charity Barnardos (London), to run workshops across London, as well as returning to Oldham to run a weekend workshop for the organisation Positive Steps.
We are also going to be expanding the programme to run our own independent Outreach scheme in London. We have a particular interest in working in Tooting, South London. And currently on the hunt for a suitable space, any suggestions or connections you may have please let us know.
Hi Gemma,
How are you?
I know this is a little bit random, but I just wanted to thank you again for introducing me to act up. I learnt so much from the workshop, and I feel like my world has changed since doing the course, it's sparked so much off for me... I've now left home (Birmingham), and am back in Leicester. I'm a member of the Curve young company, and I'm keener then ever to pursue acting. I'd love to apply for the Oxford School of Acting next year - once I have enough money. (I'm poor at the moment!). Just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to find out that I am alright at doing something I enjoy. :) Take care ,
