The Alexander Technique is a well known method which challenges habitual habits and enables free movement in the mind and body. It has long been recognised as a crucial method of learning for actors. It helps with posture, movement, voice control, breathing and anxiety.

Getting to the Academy
I received an email from Gemma about a new Alexander Technique course run by act up. I had a strong gut feeling that I should sign up and so did. I absolutely loved it. Dewi Matthews is amazingly experienced and wise; a wonderful man. Being back in the familiar and beautiful surroundings of the R.A.D made a real impression on me. The course was liberating, powerful and energising. As I was throwing myself into the various exercises and practises I heard an inner voice calling me: "It’s not too late. You have to go to Drama school."

As for Saturday...I thought it was such a cool class. Admittedly, I didn't 'get it' until the last hour but when I finally understood, it was really good. It's quite funny actually because at first I thought it was all a bit weird, but i'm so glad I took the course now. These past few days I've been using what I've learnt and I think it could be really beneficial. It's exactly what I need in order to (hopefully) eliminate my tension and awkwardness."
